Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Max Planck Tandem Group in Biogeochemistry and the Program in Earth System Science . The project focuses on carbon cycle impacts of future forest fires under climate change, with an emphasis on how wildfires may reshape the global carbon cycle. The successful candidate will work with satellite data and fire-vegetation model outputs to study future wildfire impacts. The role also includes teaching one undergraduate course per semester , contributing to publications, and participating in international collaborations. Applicants should hold a PhD in ecology, biogeochemistry, earth system science, or a related field by the start date. Strong quantitative skills are required, especially Python , R , or equivalent tools, along with experience handling large geospatial datasets . A background in remote sensing and/or fire-vegetation or land surface modelling is desirable, and a record of peer-reviewed publications is expected for the applicant’s career stage. The appointment is for one year with a possible extension depending on performance and budget. The position is on-site in Bogotá , with an approximate net salary of 9,500,000 COP .
