PhD Graduate Research Assistant in Built Environment, Productivity, and Sustainability at Universiti Teknologi MARA
Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is offering a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) position linked to a full-time PhD in Built Environment, supported by the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) 2025. The research project focuses on modelling the synergistic roles of Vertical Integration and Environmental Management Practices in enhancing construction productivity and sustainability in Malaysia. The study aims to address challenges in the construction industry, such as fragmented value chains, high emissions, and significant waste, using both quantitative and qualitative methods to shape productivity outcomes and inform policy and practice.
The successful candidate will join the Faculty of Built Environment at UiTM Shah Alam and work under the supervision of Sr Dr Mohd Azrai Azman. Responsibilities include conducting systematic literature reviews, collecting and organizing financial data, assisting with statistical modelling, supporting interviews and qualitative analysis, and helping with writing, presentations, and publication preparation. The position is open to Malaysian citizens with a Master’s degree in a related field or those eligible for fast-track PhD entry (first-class Bachelor’s degree or CGPA ≥ 3.67). Preferred backgrounds include economics, finance, engineering, and related disciplines.
Applicants should demonstrate a high interest in economics and productivity, strong English academic writing skills, effective communication, determination, and the ability to work independently under supervision. The monthly allowance is RM2000++ for three years, with additional benefits such as opportunities to publish in high-impact journals and coverage for conferences.
