Postdoctoral Position in Stem Cell and Developmental Biology at Purdue University

A fully funded postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Viju Pillai at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. The research focuses on fundamental mechanisms of stem cell niche regulation and cell fate decisions across development, regeneration, and disease. Ongoing projects examine the fetal–maternal niche during early development using large-animal models, pituitary stem cell biology, and niche regulation in non-human primate models and organoid systems. The postdoc will lead independent research projects and contribute to collaborative, multidisciplinary studies integrating cell biology, molecular biology, and computational approaches. Applicants should have a PhD in developmental biology, reproductive/stem cell biology, molecular biology, or a closely related field. Required skills include strong hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, especially primary cells and/or stem cell lines. Experience with pluripotent stem cells, trophoblast stem cells, organoids, or advanced 3D culture systems is highly desirable. The position involves experimental design, execution, troubleshooting of in vitro assays, differentiation protocols, and functional studies relevant to stem cell biology and developmental processes. Bioinformatics and computational data analysis expertise is strongly preferred, including familiarity with high-throughput datasets such as RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, or related genomic assays. The postdoc will collaborate to integrate experimental and computational data for biological insights. Candidates should demonstrate scientific independence, excellent communication skills, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Experience mentoring students or contributing to grant writing is an asset. The lab offers a collaborative research environment, access to core facilities, and strong mentorship tailored toward academic, industry, or translational research career paths. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience, following institutional guidelines. Interested applicants should submit a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for three professional references to [email protected]. Applications are reviewed immediately and continue until the position is filled.
