Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mycobacterium tuberculosis Biology and Pre-clinical TB Drug Discovery

Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity at the University of Cape Town’s Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IDM), in the Singh Research Group led by Dr Vinayak Singh. The project focuses on Mycobacterium tuberculosis biology and pre-clinical TB drug discovery , including investigation of mechanisms of action of potential anti-TB compounds and evaluation of in vitro and in vivo drug efficacy. This is a research-intensive postdoc for candidates with a strong background in microbiology , biochemistry , biotechnology , cell biology , pharmacology , or related life sciences fields. Applicants must hold a PhD completed within the past five years and should have experience with M. tuberculosis and TB animal models. The role expects independence, initiative, and the ability to contribute to reports, articles, and possibly limited teaching or co-supervision. Funding is provided as a fellowship valued at R350,000–R450,000 per annum depending on experience. The fellowship is tax exempt, runs for one year, and may be renewed or increased subject to satisfactory progress and available funds. No additional benefits or allowances are included.
