PhD Assistant in Accounting, Corporate Finance and Taxation at Ghent University
Ghent University, a leading institution in Belgium, is offering a PhD assistant position in the Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance and Taxation within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. This role is ideal for candidates interested in pursuing academic research in corporate finance while contributing to teaching and departmental services.
At least 50% of the assignment will be dedicated to academic research in preparation for a doctoral dissertation in corporate finance. The successful candidate will also assist with teaching activities (in Dutch) and support both internal and external departmental services. The position is a temporary appointment at 100% FTE, starting from 1 September 2026 at the earliest.
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Economics, Business Engineering, Business Administration, Complementary Studies in Business Economics, or an equivalent diploma by the start of the appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to present in English. Teaching experience or participation in extra training and conferences is considered advantageous.
The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal twice for two years each, subject to positive evaluation, and a maximum term of six years. Remuneration is determined by salary scale AAP3, and staff members enjoy a range of benefits including training opportunities, 36 days of paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, and ecocheques.
