Yike Shen

Shen Research Group at The University of Texas at Arlington is recruiting 2 PhD students and multiple undergraduate researchers. The PhD openings are in environmental health , data science , and knowledgebase development , with research spanning environmental health knowledgebases, environmental exposures and microbiome, and environmental risk assessment using machine learning. The lab is led by Yike Shen , Assistant Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at UTA. PhD applicants should have a BS in Science, Engineering, or Public Health, an undergraduate GPA above 3.3, and strong programming skills. International students should include TOEFL or IELTS scores in the CV. The lab expects PhD students to contribute to research and teaching, including teaching data science-related course labs, and to publish three first-author papers before graduation. Funding includes a competitive salary and benefits, fully covered tuition, rigorous scientific training, and opportunities to present at academic conferences in the United States once per year. Undergraduate researcher positions are available immediately for active UTA undergraduates with a GPA above 3.5 who are pursuing a BS in Science or Engineering and have strong programming skills.
