PhD and Postdoctoral Opportunities in Air Traffic Management, Artificial Intelligence, and Human–AI Collaboration

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is recruiting motivated researchers to join the group of Assistant Professor Yutong Chen in the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering. This opportunity includes PhD students (with opportunities for full scholarships), postdoctoral research fellows , and research assistants . The research focus is on Air Traffic Management , Artificial Intelligence , and Human–AI Collaboration , with an emphasis on intelligent and human-centred aviation systems. Relevant research interests include AI-enabled decision support, traffic prediction, system analysis, capacity assessment, trajectory optimisation, conflict management, and human-in-the-loop design for safety-critical aviation environments. The group also works on deployable and explainable methods for aviation operations and related Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management scenarios. Applicants with backgrounds in civil aviation, air traffic management, aerospace engineering, or transportation engineering are encouraged to apply. Strong training or research experience in artificial intelligence or human–AI teaming is also welcome. Industry or operational experience in aviation is an advantage, but not required.
