The University of Kent is offering the British Council GREAT Scholarship for September 2026 entry, targeting students from Ghana, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, and Turkey. This prestigious scholarship, valued at £10,000, is available for international students enrolling in a one-year full-time taught master's programme at any UK campus of the University of Kent. The scholarship is funded by the UK Government's GREAT Britain campaign, the British Council, and the University of Kent, as part of the Study UK campaign.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to hold a passport and reside in one of the eligible countries, be assessed as an overseas fee payer, and have received and accepted a conditional offer for a taught master's course before the deadline of 24 April 2026. Applicants must submit an expression of interest for the scholarship via the applicant portal, and demonstrate active engagement in their field through work experience or proven interest. Successful candidates are expected to participate in UK Higher Education activities, act as ambassadors for UK HEIs, and attend networking events for GREAT scholars.

The scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships and is not available for distance learning, PCert, PDip, two-year courses, or integrated master's programmes. Selection is based on academic achievement, personal statement, and references. The award is strictly for students beginning their degrees in September 2026. Recipients will be notified by the end of June 2026 and must accept the offer within two weeks.

This opportunity is open to all taught master's subjects, including business, computer science, economics, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, political science, psychology, sociology, environmental science, medical science, education, and law.
