About this position
The Pan African University (PAU), an initiative of the African Union, is offering fully funded scholarships for Master’s and PhD programs for the academic year 2026–2027. This opportunity is open to qualified, motivated, and ambitious young people from all African countries and the African Diaspora. The scholarship, funded by the African Union, covers all tuition fees, university accommodation, a monthly living allowance, health insurance, research support for Master’s and PhD students, and travel tickets at the start and end of the program. There are no tuition or application fees required from students; applicants only need to prepare and upload the necessary documents online.
Eligibility requirements include being an African national or a member of the African Diaspora. For Master’s programs, male applicants must be under 25 years and female applicants under 28 years; for PhD programs, males must be under 28 years and females under 30 years. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university, with at least a second class upper division or its equivalent. Required documents include certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts, passport or national ID, a detailed CV, a recommendation letter from a former university lecturer, and names and contact details of three reference university lecturers. For Master in Conference Interpreting and Translation, excellent knowledge of at least two African Union official languages is required. Applicants may be required to undergo a written or oral examination after pre-selection.
