About this position

The Siddall Sheffield Scholarship 2026 is a prestigious, fully funded opportunity for US citizens to pursue a one-year full-time Master’s degree in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield. This scholarship, made possible by a generous donation from Mrs Brenda and Dr Graham Siddall, recognizes academic excellence and aims to foster technical innovation and civic engagement among its recipients.

The scholarship covers the full tuition fee for the Master’s programme and provides a generous stipend of £18,000, bringing the total value to approximately £50,000. The award is paid in four equal instalments and is intended to support students throughout their studies in Sheffield. Recipients are expected to contribute to the development of the Sheffield community, both academically and through civic engagement, as demonstrated by a 500-word proposal and essay during the application process.

Eligibility requirements are specific: applicants must be US citizens who have studied in the US, be non-UK residents, and not have lived in the UK (except for short-term study abroad). A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with a preferred GPA of 3.7 or higher. Applicants must be accepted into a one-year full-time Engineering Master’s course at the University of Sheffield by the time the scholarship is awarded. An academic reference/endorsement letter from a member of staff in the School applied to is required, confirming discussion of the proposed research project and support for the application. Applicants must be self-funded and required to pay overseas tuition fees, and not be sponsored students.

The application deadline is 13 January 2026, 5pm UK time. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview in early March 2026, and final decisions will be communicated by 31 March 2026. The scholarship cannot be deferred or combined with other University scholarships or external sponsorships (except repayable loans). Recipients must cover pre-arrival costs such as visa, health surcharge, and travel.

The scholarship is open to students applying to any one-year full-time Master’s programme in the Faculty of Engineering, including Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, and Robotics. The University of Sheffield is renowned for its commitment to research and innovation, and this scholarship provides an exceptional opportunity for talented students to advance their careers and make a positive impact on the Sheffield community.

For more information and to apply, visit the official scholarship page and ensure all required documents are submitted before the deadline.
