GAIN 2026/27 Program for African Students: Master’s and PhD Preparation in Economics and Related Fields Graduate Applications International Network in

The Graduate Applications International Network (GAIN) is now accepting applications for its 2026/27 cohort, targeting African students and graduates who aspire to pursue Master’s or PhD programs in economics and related fields at top institutions worldwide. GAIN offers a comprehensive support system including information sharing, mentoring, and financial assistance to help participants navigate the graduate school application process.

The program is open to highly motivated individuals in their final year or recent graduates of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics or related disciplines. GAIN strongly encourages top-performing African students to apply, especially those aiming for a PhD or a Master’s with the intention of continuing to a PhD in economics or social sciences. The program includes a free, biweekly webinar series featuring guest speakers who discuss graduate admissions and careers in research or policy. Participation in these webinars is mandatory for those wishing to advance to the mentoring stage.

After completing the webinar series, promising participants may enter the mentoring program, which includes a GRE bootcamp and GRE test. Those who achieve a sufficient GRE score will be matched with experienced mentors to guide them through the application process for graduate programs. The program typically requires a commitment of 3-5 hours per week from January onwards. Additional requirements for the mentoring program will be communicated during the webinars.

Applications are open to students from all African countries. The deadline to apply is February 11th, 2026.
