The Johns Hopkins Gender Equity / Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Evidence Accelerator Fellowship 2026–2027 is a fully funded, year-long, part-time fellowship designed for practitioners, researchers, and scholars working in gender equity and GBV, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Hosted by the Center for Global Women’s Health and Gender Equity (CGWHGE) at Johns Hopkins University, this competitive fellowship aims to strengthen fellows’ capacity to generate, analyze, synthesize, and translate evidence to inform gender equity and GBV programs, research, and policy.

The program combines academic coursework at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, applied research, and mentored learning. Fellows benefit from faculty mentorship by global gender and GBV experts, a structured cohort experience, and opportunities for both virtual engagement and in-person convenings. As part of the fellowship, participants complete a mentored mini-project focused on gender equity or GBV, which may include secondary analysis of survey or program data, evidence synthesis, or applied research to inform policy or practice. Faculty provide data analysis and research mentorship throughout the project period.

The fellowship runs for 12 months (2026–2027), with an average time commitment of 10 hours per week (up to 20 hours during course periods). All activities are conducted in English. The program is ideal for monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) professionals, gender and GBV practitioners, community-based and applied researchers, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty focused on gender or GBV in LMICs. Applicants should have prior experience in gender equity or GBV, a clear need to build skills in evidence-based research, and a vision for how the fellowship will accelerate their career goals and impact.

Eligibility criteria include being from and currently living and/or working in a low- or middle-income country, currently working in the gender/GBV field, or being enrolled in a PhD program, or holding a Postdoctoral or Junior Faculty position focused on gender/GBV. Applicants must demonstrate research experience, monitoring and evaluation experience, and/or exposure to statistical software (e.g., STATA, R), and have professional working proficiency in English. Current master’s students are not eligible.

The fellowship is fully funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, covering course registration fees, faculty mentoring, and travel costs for required in-person convenings. No stipend or salary compensation is provided for participants’ time. Employed applicants are encouraged to discuss participation with their employer, especially regarding coursework or meetings during working hours.
