University of Guelph Scholarship

Master’s scholarship opportunity in Population Medicine at the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College, with Dr. Kristen Edwards. The project focuses on early-life calf health, lung consolidation, and how these factors predict lifetime productivity in dairy cattle. The student will work with real-world commercial dairy data and apply an epidemiological and quantitative analysis approach.

The research will involve extracting, merging, and validating longitudinal herd data from DairyComp 305, then analyzing outcomes such as retention in the herd, reproductive performance, and first-lactation milk production. Program details: M.Sc. in Population Medicine (course-based), start date Fall 2026. Funding includes full tuition coverage for the duration of the program, with support to apply for additional internal and external scholarships. This is a scholarship-style master’s opening rather than a postdoctoral or PhD position.

Eligibility: open to domestic students and permanent residents with an undergraduate degree in animal science, veterinary science, epidemiology, or a related field. Applicants should have at least a 70% / B- average, strong organizational and data skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
