The University of Aberdeen's School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture is offering three full-time scholarships for postgraduate study in Music for the academic year 2026-27. These opportunities are open to both Home and International students and include two Carlaw and Carlaw-Ogston Master of Music (MMus) Postgraduate Scholarships and one Ogston Postgraduate (PhD) Music Scholarship.

The MMus scholarships are available for students commencing a full-time 12-month Master of Music degree, starting in either September 2026 or January 2027. Each scholarship is valued at £2,000, paid in two instalments over the year. Applicants must hold a First or Upper Second Honours degree in Music or an equivalent qualification and must have an offer of admission for the MMus before applying. Preference for one of the scholarships is given to students who completed their undergraduate degree at the University of Aberdeen. The scholarships are awarded based on merit and musical talent in any area of music, including composition and musicology.

The Ogston PhD Music Scholarship is available for students commencing a full-time PhD in Music in the 2026-27 academic year. The scholarship is valued at £2,000 per annum for three years, subject to satisfactory progress and annual review. Applicants must hold a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree in Music or an equivalent qualification and must have an offer of admission for the PhD before applying. The award is based on merit and musical talent in any area of music.
