NCCR Automation Fellowship

NCCR Automation at Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETH Zürich) has opened its 2026 fellowship call for researchers interested in AI, robotics, automation, and related interdisciplinary topics.

This is a 6-month fellowship for Master's students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers. The programme is designed to support international research exchange and collaboration within the NCCR Automation network, with supervision and mentoring from the host lab.

Funding: fellows receive a contribution toward the increased cost of living in Switzerland during the visit. The amount is calculated using ETH Zürich study/living cost estimates and individual circumstances. The supervising PI covers project-related expenses such as travel to NCCR Automation meetings. PhD and postdoctoral applicants continue to receive salary from their home institution.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must already be enrolled in or employed by a home institution, their current programme should complement the host research group, and they must not have previously studied or worked at the Swiss host institution. Applicants must also meet the host institution's requirements.

Application materials: CV, motivation letter for Master's applicants, research proposal for PhD/postdoc applicants, support letter from home institution and supervisor, and degree/transcript copies. Applicants must also choose up to three research topics and up to three principal investigators (PIs) as potential hosts.

Deadline: applications must be submitted on the application platform by 2026-06-30 at 17:00 CEST. Successful and unsuccessful candidates will be notified in October 2026, and the earliest start date is January 2027.
