About this position

The University of Westminster is inviting applications for the Quintin Hogg Trust PhD Scholarships at Westminster Law School, located in London. This opportunity is open to outstanding doctoral candidates interested in pursuing research in a wide range of law-related fields, including International Law, Legal Education, Legal Theory, Law and Technology, Commercial Law, Competition Law, European Law, Sports Law, Entertainment Law, Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, and more. The Law School offers a vibrant and supportive research community, with supervision available from a diverse team of academic staff, including Marloes Spreeuw, Marco Longobardo, Uchechukwu Oluwatosin Bagot-Sealey, Miracle Chinwenmeri Uche, Catherine Pédamon, Filippo Marchetti, Daniela Gandorfer, Diana Sancho, Marco Roscini, Elizabeth Mavropoulou, Luke Mason, Steve Greenfield, and Giammarco Rao.

The Quintin Hogg Trust Studentship provides a full home tuition fee waiver and a stipend aligned with the UKRI national minimum, plus London weighting (for 2025–26, £22,780 per year; expected to increase for 2026–27). International students are responsible for the difference between the home fee waiver and the international fee. Ten studentships are available across the university, with each school able to submit up to two applications. Applications are assessed on alignment with university research themes, interdisciplinarity, and contribution to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Early career researchers may be involved in supervision, expanding the supervisory capacity of the Law School.

Applicants must hold an offer of admission to a Westminster doctoral programme. The application process is via the university's online system, and candidates must clearly state 'The Quintin Hogg Trust Studentship' in their application. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview, and those not awarded a studentship will retain their self-funded offer. The deadline for applications is 6 February 2026, with interviews scheduled for the week commencing 9 March 2026. For further information, applicants can visit the university's research degrees page or contact the Research Admissions team.

This is an excellent opportunity for prospective PhD students interested in law and its many subfields, including international, commercial, legal theory, technology, and more, to join a dynamic research community in the heart of London with substantial financial support.
