The Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH Delhi) is offering a PhD student scholarship in the social sciences, targeting doctoral students who are already enrolled in a PhD programme at a leading university in France from 2022 onwards. This opportunity is designed for those who have completed at least the first year of their doctorate and have not secured a doctoral contract, or for those who have lost their funding and require one or two more years to complete their thesis. The scholarship is open to research projects based on empirical or primary materials, such as statistical data, archives, ethnographic observations, and surveys. The research should be situated within the main existing works on the topic, and applicants must demonstrate familiarity with the relevant bibliography, clear research questions, and methodological rigor.

The scholarship is primarily intended to support data collection in South Asian countries, including India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, but can also be used for analysis and thesis writing. Preference is given to Indian students who have completed their postgraduate studies in France. Applicants must be fluent in English and possess excellent written and oral skills, with knowledge of a South Asian language being mandatory. The ability to integrate into French, Indian, and international academic environments is also required.

The position is full-time, with a monthly net salary of 100,000 INR and access to CSH research funds. The initial term is one year, renewable for an additional year. The selected candidate will participate in the scientific life of CSH, collaborate with scholars, and present their ongoing research annually.
