About this position
Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC) at Umeå University, Sweden is offering a 2-year postdoctoral scholarship in plant molecular biology within the research group of Prof. Åsa Strand.
The project focuses on the regulation of nuclear-encoded photosynthesis genes and asks whether GOLDEN2-Like2 (GLK2) functions as a pioneer transcription factor that opens chromatin at photosynthesis-associated loci during plant greening. The work combines molecular biology, chromatin biology, and biophysics, including chromatin accessibility assays, GLK2 occupancy analysis, histone modification studies, and single-molecule C-Trap force spectroscopy.
This is a full-time postdoctoral scholarship funded by the Kempe Foundation. The scholarship is 360,000 SEK per year and is stated as tax-free. The position starts on 1 July 2026 or by agreement.
Applicants should be highly motivated and interested in plant gene regulation, chromatin dynamics, and photosynthesis research. The deadline is 1 June 2026.
To apply, visit the Umeå University website and follow the job posting instructions.
