About this position
Postdoctoral scholarship opportunity in plant molecular biology at Umeå University / Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC) in Sweden.
The project is hosted in Åsa Strand’s research group and focuses on the regulation of nuclear-encoded photosynthesis genes, chromatin dynamics, and the role of GLK2 as a potential pioneer transcription factor during plant greening. The work combines advanced experimental approaches in plant molecular biology, biochemistry, chromatin biology, and ChIP-sequencing.
This is a two-year postdoctoral scholarship funded by the Kempe Foundation. The scholarship is 360,000 SEK per year, tax-free, and is for full-time study/research. The starting date is July 1, 2026 or by agreement.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent by the decision date, preferably within the last three years unless special reasons apply. The degree should be in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related subject. Strong laboratory experience with molecular and biochemical methods is required, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Good English skills are required; experience with large data sets and ChIP-sequencing is an advantage.
Application deadline: June 1, 2026. Apply through the university’s electronic recruitment system and submit a single PDF containing a personal letter, CV with publication list, degree certificate(s), grades, and other supporting documents.
