About this position
The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MOE), offers the Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent (START) Scheme, specifically the Early Career Awards (ECA), to support outstanding young Singaporeans who have recently completed their postdoctoral training and are interested in pursuing an academic career at SIT. The university is committed to nurturing industry-ready graduates through applied learning and close collaboration with industry partners, ensuring that research and education are closely linked to real-world challenges and business needs. The ECA is designed to enhance the teaching capabilities of recipients and help them build a strong research portfolio, with the ultimate goal of preparing them for an Assistant Professorship at SIT. Awardees may receive research grants and will be assigned a faculty mentor for the duration of the scheme.
The scheme is open to Singapore Citizens who have recently completed postdoctoral training, possess an excellent academic record, and demonstrate a strong passion for teaching, research, and an academic career in areas aligned with SIT’s supported fields. Supported research areas include Business, Communication and Design, with specific focus on Financial and Sustainability Accounting (integrating financial performance with ESG and sustainability considerations) and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), which covers event management, business tourism, and hospitality. The application process is open year-round, with applications received before 15 January 2026 considered for the 2026 intake. Shortlisted candidates will undergo interviews with respective clusters and a final panel, with awards finalized by July 2026.
This is a full-time, non-EU funded position based in Singapore, and awardees will benefit from research funding and mentorship to support their transition to an academic career at SIT.
