RSF Berlin Fellowship 2026 for Journalists – Fully Funded Digital Security and Media Training in Germany Reporters Without Borders Germany in Germany

The RSF Berlin Fellowship 2026, organized by Reporters Without Borders Germany, is a fully funded opportunity for journalists from countries with restricted press freedom. The program is designed to empower and protect journalists working in challenging environments, offering a safe space in Berlin to recover, learn, and network. The fellowship runs from June to November 2026 and includes a comprehensive digital security training program, workshops on safety and resilience, peer-to-peer exchange, and networking with German media professionals and civil society stakeholders.

Fellows receive extensive support, including paid travel and accommodation, a furnished studio apartment, monthly living stipend, health insurance, public transport pass, travel to conferences and networking events, access to a co-working space, and participation in touristic and social activities. The program is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises, and RSF Germany’s members and donors.

Eligibility is open to working journalists with at least three years of professional experience, including full-time staff, freelancers, and citizen journalists. Applicants must work in independent media, demonstrate fluency in English, and be able to return to their country of residence for visa purposes. Investigative journalists covering human rights topics are given preference. Fellows are expected to participate fully in program activities and conduct at least one workshop or training session in their home country after completion.

Applications are accepted online via the RSF portal from December 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026. Required documents include a completed application form, CV, passport scan, and contact information for two professional referees. The program is conducted in collaboration with taz Panter Stiftung, and applicants may also consider the Rest & Resilience Fellowship via the taz Panter Foundation.
