Scholarships for international students in Switzerland ETH Zurich, EPFL, University of Geneva, Zurich University of the Arts, and others in Switzerland

The Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), offers fully funded scholarships for international students to pursue research, PhD, postdoctoral, and art studies at leading Swiss institutions such as ETH Zurich, EPFL, University of Geneva, and Zurich University of the Arts. The scholarships are available in several categories: Research Fellowships (for Master’s or PhD holders), PhD Scholarships, Postdoctoral Scholarships, and Art Scholarships (for first-time Master’s students in artistic fields). Applicants for research, PhD, and postdoc scholarships must have at least a Master’s degree by July 31, 2026, and secure a Swiss academic supervisor with a letter of support. Art scholarship applicants must be born after December 31, 1990, hold a Bachelor’s degree, and be applying to a Swiss art school.

The funding package includes a monthly stipend (CHF 1,920 for research/PhD/art, CHF 3,500 for postdoc), health insurance, a half-fare travelcard, and a rental grant. Tuition fees are not covered, and applicants are responsible for finding their supervisor. The application deadline is December 28, 2025.
