Scholarships for Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID) – Short Courses in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Public Health Emory University in United States

The Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID) at Emory University offers expert-led short courses in statistical and mathematical modeling for infectious diseases. Directed by Dr. Natalie Dean, Associate Professor & Biostatistician, SISMID provides both in-person and online modules covering foundational, applied, and emerging methods in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, and public health. The program is designed for graduate students, postdocs, and professionals seeking advanced training and professional development in infectious disease research.

SISMID 2026 features two formats: online modules (June 22–26, 2026) and in-person modules (July 13–24, 2026) at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta, GA. Online modules are available only to participants in the United States, Canada, and Mexico due to tax restrictions. In-person modules emphasize hands-on learning and networking opportunities.

Scholarships are available to eligible graduate students and postdocs, covering registration costs and, for in-person attendees, limited travel support for on-campus lodging. Applications for scholarships open February 1, 2026, with a priority deadline of February 28, 2026. Registration for modules opens March 16, 2026, with early-bird pricing through April 30, 2026. Module pricing varies by participant status and registration period.

The program is partially funded by NIH and CDC grants, ensuring accessibility and support for emerging researchers.
