About this position
Karolinska Institutet is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Saei Lab at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) in Solna, Sweden. The project sits at the interface of colon cancer, microbiome, metabolome, and proteomics, with a strong emphasis on mass spectrometry-based proteomics, cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
The successful candidate will investigate how gut microbiome-derived metabolites promote colon cancer, using in vitro and in vivo models. The work includes omics experiments, creative biochemistry and molecular biology follow-up, recombinant protein expression, binding assays, and potentially mouse experiments. The lab highlights multidisciplinary and collaborative research, with opportunities to contribute to papers, grants, student supervision, and presentations.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold a PhD or an equivalent foreign degree by the employment decision date. A PhD completed within the last three years is advantageous. Strong experience in cancer biology, molecular biology, microbiology, and English communication is required, along with basic bioinformatics. Experience in cancer metabolism, model systems, proteomics, programming, and culturing oral/gut bacteria is considered meritorious.
Funding/employment: This is a temporary full-time postdoctoral employment at Karolinska Institutet with monthly salary; no scholarship or tuition waiver is indicated.
Application: Submit the application through the Varbi recruitment system. Required documents include a PhD certificate, full CV, publication list, and a one-page summary of current work. Deadline: 2026-05-01.
