The Department of Economics at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is offering fully funded PhD scholarships in Economics, with a start date of September 2026. These positions are ideal for candidates interested in applied, policy-relevant economics, with research areas spanning labor markets, health, welfare, energy, AI, and data science. The department is internationally oriented, providing opportunities for conference funding, research visits, and strong career placements in academia, government, and industry.

Research at CBS Economics covers core areas such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, quantitative methods, and business-related applied economic research. The department hosts research centers like the Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure and the Pension Research Centre, and is active in projects supported by Danish and EU research councils. PhD projects should align with departmental strengths, including behavior and incentives, labor market functioning, AI and machine learning in economics, energy and environment, firm behavior, globalization, growth, and welfare topics like education and health care.

The 5+3 scheme requires a completed master's degree with high grades, while the 4+4 scheme is open to those with a bachelor's degree and relevant master's coursework.
