PhD Position in Inclusive Education at University of Graz University of Graz in Austria

The University of Graz invites applications for a PhD position in the field of Inclusive Education, based at the Department of Education Research and Teacher Education. This four-year, fixed-term position offers an annual gross salary of at least €52,865.40 (30 hours per week), with the possibility of overpayment depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community dedicated to addressing future societal challenges through research and education.

The core responsibilities include writing a dissertation in inclusive education, active participation in departmental research projects, and involvement in preparing proposals for international research initiatives. The role also encompasses student support, particularly in the analysis of quantitative and qualitative empirical data, participation in examination activities, and teaching autonomous courses within the department. Additional duties involve organizational and administrative cooperation, as well as contributing to evaluation measures.

Applicants should hold a completed diploma or master’s degree in pedagogy, psychology, or a comparable field with equivalent professional qualification. Essential skills include excellent command of both German and English, a strong interest in empirical research, and a focus on inclusive education with special emphasis on cognitive and social-emotional development. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding knowledge of empirical social research methods, advanced competence in statistical methods and relevant software (such as SPSS), and proficiency in computerized literature search and data analysis. Experience with publications and teaching is desirable, as is a cooperative and team-oriented working style, organizational skills, and enjoyment in working with children.
