PhD Positions in Computational Modelling of Bone Regeneration and Renal Drug Handling at Maastricht University

Two exciting PhD positions are available at the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine, Maastricht University, under the supervision of Associate Professor Aurélie Carlier. The first position focuses on the computational modelling of bone regeneration, where the successful candidate will develop advanced in silico models to study bone healing, especially in compromised environments. This project sits at the intersection of mechanistic modelling, data integration, and innovative computational approaches such as Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs). The second PhD position centers on developing an in vitro platform to investigate sex differences in renal drug handling. This interdisciplinary project combines advanced in vitro models with physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling to unravel sex-specific mechanisms in kidney drug transport, contributing to translational pharmacology and kidney physiology research.
