The Soft Functional Materials Laboratory at Middle East Technical University (METU) is seeking highly motivated PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to join their dynamic research team. The lab specializes in the design and development of functional materials for applications in sensing, diagnostics, and actuation, with expertise in soft materials, colloids, interfaces, and microfluidic systems. Research topics include functional soft materials for sensing and actuation, colloidal systems and interfacial phenomena, liquid crystals and stimuli-responsive surfaces, and microfluidic systems for diagnostic applications and material integration.

Open positions are available for doctoral (PhD) students and postdoctoral researchers, supported by domestic and EU-funded projects. The PhD positions are fully funded with scholarships, and postdoctoral positions are also funded. The laboratory is particularly interested in candidates who are eager to develop material solutions for real-world problems and can start as soon as possible.

Applicants should have a strong academic background. PhD candidates must hold a master's degree in materials science, chemical engineering, physics, or related fields, while postdoctoral candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline. Research experience in experimental or computational techniques, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
