PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Soft Functional Materials, Chemical Engineering, and Physics
The Soft Functional Materials Laboratory at Middle East Technical University (METU) is recruiting highly motivated PhD candidates and Postdoctoral Researchers. The lab, led by Associate Professor Emre Bukusoglu, specializes in the design and development of functional materials for applications in sensing, diagnostics, and actuation. Research expertise includes soft matter, colloids, interfaces, and microfluidic systems, with a focus on advancing material solutions for real-world challenges.
Openings are available for fully funded PhD positions in materials science, chemical engineering, physics, or related disciplines, as well as postdoctoral positions funded by domestic grants and EU-based projects. Research topics include functional soft materials for sensing and actuation, colloidal systems and interfacial phenomena, liquid crystals and responsive substrates, and microfluidics for diagnostics and material integration.
Ideal candidates will have a strong academic record (MSc for PhD applicants, PhD for postdocs), research experience in relevant experimental or computational techniques, and demonstrate independent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset. The lab welcomes applications from both international and domestic candidates who are eager to contribute to cutting-edge research in soft functional materials.
To apply, submit your CV, research statement, and contact information for references to [email protected]. The start date is as soon as possible. For more information, you may visit the LinkedIn profile of the lab head, Emre Bukusoglu.
