Fully Funded PhD in Food Safety, Microbiology, and Materials Science at Nanyang Technological University
Dr. Lin Chen's lab at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is offering a fully funded PhD position starting August 2026. The lab is part of the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology and focuses on innovative research in food safety and food processing. Key research areas include developing bacteriophage-based strategies to control foodborne pathogens, enhancing the functionality and safety of alternative proteins, integrating multi-omics and AI to predict microbial spoilage and food safety risks, and engineering antimicrobial materials for targeted pathogen control in food systems.
Applicants should have or be in the process of obtaining a bachelor's or master's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Omics, Materials Science, or related fields. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required, and applicants must meet NTU's English language requirements (TOEFL/IELTS). A strong publication record is highly preferred, and candidates with exceptional academic insight, substantial research background, and a proactive attitude are strongly encouraged to apply.
The position is fully funded, covering tuition and providing a stipend. The lab offers a dynamic research environment with opportunities to work on cutting-edge topics such as bacteriophage-host dynamics, alternative protein safety, and the application of AI in food safety. Interested candidates should send their CV and relevant materials to Dr. Lin Chen at [email protected]. The application deadline is August 1, 2026.
For more information about the lab and research topics, visit NTU's official website or contact Dr. Lin Chen directly. This opportunity is ideal for students passionate about food safety, microbiology, materials science, and interdisciplinary research at the intersection of biology, chemistry, and engineering.
