Chalmers University of Technology

Doctor in Precision Nutrition (Postdoctoral Researcher)

Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, invites applications for a Doctor in Precision Nutrition to join its interdisciplinary nutrition research team within the Department of Life Sciences. The division of Food and Nutrition Science is recognized as a leading unit in Sweden, with expertise in nutritional and computational metabolomics, dietary biomarkers, micronutrient metal nutrition, nutritional immunology, marine food science, plant-based foods, food biotechnology, and protein technology. The division is equipped with state-of-the-art analytical tools, including chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry, in vitro human cell laboratories, and microbiology facilities. The research project focuses on advancing innovative dietary strategies that support individual well-being and sustainable food consumption. The team evaluates personalized responses to foods and dietary patterns, aiming to facilitate healthier and more sustainable diets at the individual level. As a Doctor in Precision Nutrition, you will lead ongoing activities in the large EU project SWITCH, which assesses strategies for healthy and sustainable food consumption with respect to health and environmental sustainability. The project is conducted in collaboration with RISE, 21 European partners, and the Life Style Intervention Centre at Östra Hospital in Gothenburg, with additional support from the Västra Götalands Region. Responsibilities include managing Chalmers' participation in the EU SWITCH project, assisting in intervention studies, and coordinating a dietary intervention study to evaluate bread quality effects on appetite, food intake, and metabolism. You will lead the dietary intervention team at the Wallenberg Laboratory (including nurses, dietitians, laboratory assistants, students, and postdocs), collect and manage data, and present results in scientific publications and conferences. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in nutrition, medicine, dietetics, or a closely related field. Fluency in a Scandinavian language is required for participant interactions. Experience in dietary intervention studies, data analysis, and scientific presentation is mandatory. Experience with research on health effects of carbohydrate quality and portfolio diets in cardiometabolic disease is considered meritorious. The position is a temporary full-time employment for a maximum of 360 days. Chalmers offers a dynamic and inspiring working environment in Gothenburg, with a strong commitment to gender balance, equality, and inclusion. The university fosters innovation and scientific excellence, collaborating closely with academia and industry. Applications should be submitted in English via the online application form, with CV, personal letter, and relevant documents attached as PDF files. The deadline for applications is February 23rd, 2026. For further information, contact Professor Rikard Landberg at [email protected].

Chalmers University of Technology

Postdoctoral Researcher in Precision Nutrition and Cardiometabolic Health

Chalmers University of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in precision nutrition at the Division of Food and Nutrition Science, Gothenburg, Sweden. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the intersection of metabolomics, microbiome science, and computational modelling, with the goal of developing new food intake biomarkers and understanding individual metabolic responses to diet. The overarching aim is to advance personalized nutrition strategies to prevent cardiometabolic diseases. The Department of Life Sciences at Chalmers is dedicated to research, innovation, and education that supports a biobased society and improved human health. The Division of Food and Nutrition Science addresses major challenges in sustainable food production, nutrition, and health, conducting research and education to provide new knowledge and solutions for a sustainable planet and healthy populations. The research project focuses on developing objective biomarkers of dietary intake and improving the understanding of inter-individual differences in metabolic responses to food. Utilizing large population studies, advanced metabolomics, microbiome analyses, and computational modelling, the project seeks to identify personalized metabolic response patterns and their links to disease risk. The ultimate goal is to create data-driven strategies for personalized dietary recommendations. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will engage in both wet-lab (mass spectrometric analysis) and dry-lab tasks. Responsibilities include developing and validating novel dietary biomarkers using metabolomics and metaproteomics, analyzing large-scale multi-omics and clinical datasets, and applying advanced statistical and machine learning methods to identify metabolic response patterns. The role also offers opportunities to supervise master’s and doctoral students and participate in teaching at the undergraduate or master’s level. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in bioanalysis, computational medicine, food and nutrition science, or a related field, with experience in mass spectrometry and metabolomics. Strong English communication skills and a willingness to spend 3-6 months abroad in a collaborating lab are required. Additional experience in multi-omics data integration and microbiome data analysis is advantageous. The position is a full-time, temporary employment for two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension, and requires physical presence in Gothenburg. Chalmers offers a dynamic, inclusive work environment with comprehensive employee benefits, including healthcare, parental leave, and support for settling in Sweden. Applications must be submitted in English as PDF files, including a comprehensive CV, publication list, teaching experience, and a personal letter outlining research background and future goals. The deadline for applications is April 11, 2026. For further information, contact Professor Rikard Landberg at [email protected].
