PhD and Integrated Master's/PhD Positions in Smart Thermal Devices, Wearable Electronics, and Materials Science at Dongguk University
The Thermal Engineering and Material Processing Lab (TEMP Lab) at Dongguk University, Seoul, South Korea, is seeking highly motivated candidates for PhD and integrated Master's/PhD positions in the Department of Mechanical, Robotics, and Energy Engineering. The positions are available for the Spring 2026 semester (starting March 2026). The group, led by Assistant Professor Jinwoo Lee, focuses on interdisciplinary research in smart thermal devices, next-generation electronics, wearable electronics, energy harvesting devices, chemical sensors, radiative cooling, and novel materials based on thermal engineering principles and material design.
Applicants with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, or related fields are encouraged to apply. The lab values candidates with experience in embedded systems, circuit design, firmware development, machine learning, wearable electronics, and energy harvesting. Strong experimental skills, self-motivation, proactivity, responsibility, and teamwork are essential. Proficiency in English or Korean (both written and verbal) is required. While a publication list as a main author is not mandatory, it is considered a plus.
Successful candidates will be eligible for Dongguk University's SRD Scholarship, a fully funded program covering tuition and entrance fees for international students in engineering, science, and medicine. The TEMP Lab is well-funded, with multiple government and sponsored research grants supporting its research activities. Scholarship recipients are expected to contribute to the lab's publication record in SCIE journals.
To apply, interested candidates should fill out the provided Google form and contact Prof. Jinwoo Lee at [email protected] with their CV. More information about the lab and research can be found on the lab homepage. The application process includes contacting the professor, applying for international admission, and applying for the SRD scholarship. The deadline for Spring 2026 admission is August 1, 2026.
