About this position
The University of Jyväskylä is seeking 1–2 postdoctoral researchers in Information Systems Science to join the Faculty of Information Technology, starting from 1 August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a fixed term of up to four years. If the candidate has already served as a postdoc at Jyväskylä for four years, the maximum appointment is two years. The faculty comprises 18 research groups across four main areas: educational technology and cognitive science, computational science, software engineering, and information systems science. The research environment includes five laboratories and two research hubs, fostering a vibrant and multidisciplinary academic community.
Research in information systems science at Jyväskylä focuses on the design and development of innovative digital services and data-driven value creation. Projects examine how digital technology, services, and data can be leveraged for value creation in organizations, for users, and for society, supporting the broader goals of the Finnish Hub for Digitalization (FHDi). The postdoctoral role involves conducting research within a faculty research group, maintaining a strong publication record, teaching and supervising theses, and actively participating in research projects and funding acquisition. Candidates are expected to strengthen the faculty’s scientific profile and contribute to its research areas.
Eligibility requires a completed doctoral degree before the start date. Good English proficiency is essential, and the ability to teach in English is advantageous. The position includes a six-month probation period. The university offers a supportive and inclusive community, opportunities for international research collaboration, and excellent facilities for active and healthy living. The salary is based on the university’s salary system for teaching and research staff (levels 5–6), ranging from approximately 3800 to 4400 euros per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
Applications must be submitted online via the university’s recruitment system by 30 April 2026. Applicants must have a public ORCID profile listing their publications. Required documents include a CV (following scientific best practices and TENK guidelines), a motivation letter (max 2 pages) detailing research interests, career goals, and relevant experience, a numbered publication list (Finnish Academy model), degree certificate (highest degree), and a research plan. The application can be edited via the email link until the deadline. For further information, contact Professor Heikki Karjaluoto ([email protected]) regarding research, or HR Partner Elina Korhonen ([email protected]) for HR and contract details.
The University of Jyväskylä is committed to fairness, transparency, and responsible researcher evaluation, adhering to national and European standards (DORA, CoARA, HRS4R). The faculty values equality and diversity and encourages all qualified candidates to apply. The campus is located in central Jyväskylä, offering a beautiful and accessible environment for work and study. Join us in building the digital future!
