About this position

imec and the University of Antwerp are recruiting a Senior/Postdoctoral Researcher in Programmable & Intelligent Network Systems within the Programmable and Intelligent Networks (PIN) team at IDLab. This is a postdoctoral opening focused on 6G networks, AI/ML-driven orchestration, O-RAN, network slicing, closed-loop automation, and edge–cloud continuum systems.

The role involves leading research on next-generation 6G architectures, designing AI-native orchestration and zero-touch management, building and integrating intelligent network functions, and validating solutions in real 5G/6G testbeds and living labs. The group works on intelligent automation in 5G/6G, distributed intelligence, network digital twins, 6GApps, programmable network exposures, and testbed-driven validation.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Strong experience with AI/ML pipelines, MLOps, cloud-native tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD, and experimental research in testbeds or system integration is expected. English communication skills and interest in collaborative, multidisciplinary, and industry-facing research are important.

The position is based in Antwerp, Belgium. The post does not mention a scholarship or tuition waiver; it is a research employment opportunity. Applications must be submitted through the official application link only, and email applications will not be considered. No deadline is stated in the post.
