Fully Funded PhD in Electric Vehicle Consumer Behaviour and Usage Practices in Africa at RMIT University

The Centre for African Engagement (CAE) at RMIT University’s College of Business and Law is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship for qualified candidates from Africa. The research project, titled 'Understanding Electric Vehicle (EV) Consumer Behaviour and Usage Practices in Africa,' aims to investigate the adoption and usage of electric vehicles in African countries such as Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. The project addresses the challenges and opportunities of electric mobility in Africa, focusing on consumer behaviour, technology adoption, and innovation in constrained environments. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study will explore who the early adopters of EVs are, their experiences, behavioural patterns, satisfaction levels, and coping mechanisms. The scholarship is open to African citizens with a Master’s degree in Marketing, Social Sciences, or Public Policy, and who have research experience and strong mixed methods skills. The opportunity is fully funded, covering tuition and providing a stipend. The application deadline is 17 November 2025. Interested applicants should review RMIT’s PhD admission requirements and contact Dr Marian Makkar with their CV and a brief statement of motivation before submitting a formal application. More information is available on the CAE PhD Scholarship webpage.
