The ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental & Climate Economics. The position is within the research area "Market Mechanisms and Decarbonization Policies" in the Environmental and Climate Economics department. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and internationally connected research environment, focusing on cutting-edge empirical economic research and high-level policy advice.

The role offers the opportunity to develop an independent research agenda, contribute to policy-relevant projects, and work towards publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals. The position is full-time (100%) with no teaching obligations, allowing for a strong focus on research. The initial contract is for two years, with the possibility of extension for up to six years and the option for permanent employment. Salary and benefits are in line with the German public sector pay scale TV-L (EG 13), including 30 days of paid vacation, paid medical leave, and staff benefits such as maternity/parental leave.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Economics or a closely related field by August 2026. Desired qualifications include research interests in environmental, climate, public, or applied microeconomics, experience with economic equilibrium models and simulation-based methods, strong analytical and writing skills, and the ability to work independently.
