About this position

Aarhus University is recruiting a Postdoc in Remote Sensing and Land-Use Modelling for the ActSustainably project, based at the Department of Environmental Science in Roskilde, Denmark.

The project examines grassland-use dynamics across Eurasia and links satellite-based analysis with broader questions in biodiversity, land governance, and sustainable resource use. The postdoc will work with public and commercial remote-sensing data, including Landsat, Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, and PlanetScope, and will contribute to reconstructing grassland-use change in multifunctional landscapes.

This opportunity is especially relevant for researchers with backgrounds in geoinformatics, geography, environmental science, earth observation, machine learning, spatial analysis, and land-use modelling. The role also values programming skills in Python, R, and Google Earth Engine, plus experience with high-resolution imagery, aerial photographs, and academic publishing.

The appointment is a 2-year full-time postdoctoral position running from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2028. Salary is determined by seniority under the Danish collective labour agreement; no specific stipend amount is listed.

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field and should be able to work independently, collaborate internationally, and communicate fluently in English. The application deadline is 10 April 2026.

To apply, use Aarhus University’s recruitment system via the job advertisement, and upload the required documents: cover letter, CV, degree certificate, publication list, research plan, and teaching portfolio.
