Offer Description

A post-doctoral researcher is sought to work on the synthesis and characterization of hybrid nanoparticles for applications in magnetic hyperthermia.

The fellow will conduct research within the scope of the Center for Research and Innovation on Smart and Quantum Materials (CRISQuaM), a Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (RIDC) supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and hosted by the State University of Campinas's Gleb Wataghin Institute of Physics (IFGW-UNICAMP) in Brazil. CRISQuaM is coordinated by Prof. Daniel Ugarte.

Requirements:

- Solid knowledge of nanoparticle synthesis through different chemical routes.

- Proven experience in classical laboratory characterization techniques, including:

• X-ray diffraction (XRD) for structural analysis;

• Dynamic light scattering (DLS) for particle size distribution and colloidal stability;

• Magnetometry techniques (e.g., VSM, SQUID) for magnetic property evaluation;

• Electron microscopies (Transmission Electron Microscopy – TEM and Scanning Electron Microscopy – SEM) for morphological and structural studies;

• X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for surface chemistry and electronic states;

• Inductively coupled plasma techniques (ICP-OES/MS) for compositional and elemental analysis.

- Familiarity with advanced characterization methods at large-scale facilities, especially synchrotron-based techniques (X-ray absorption spectroscopy – XAS, small-angle X-ray scattering – SAXS, XRD, etc.) applied to nanoparticles.

Desired profile:

- Strong background in nanomaterials chemistry and physics;

- Ability to conduct independent research while collaborating in multidisciplinary teams;

- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Interested candidates should contact Prof. Diego Muraca, co-Principal Investigator for CRISQuaM: [email protected] .

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
