About this position
EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) is advertising 2 PhD positions in Earthquake Engineering / Structural Engineering within ENAC/EESD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The project focuses on the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete and unreinforced masonry buildings, with a special emphasis on historic brick masonry building aggregates. The research combines large-scale experimental testing, field investigations, numerical simulations, and data-driven methods to improve assessment and retrofit strategies for historic urban environments exposed to earthquake risk.
The positions are part of the ZAGGREGATE collaborative project involving EPFL, the University of Zagreb, and other academic/professional partners, with opportunities for collaboration and research visits in Croatia. Successful candidates will work at the interface of structural engineering, earthquake engineering, and heritage conservation.
