The project combines electrical and thermal methods to improve traceable validation of converter efficiency above 99%.

Eligibility highlights: MSc in electrical engineering or a closely related field (PhD 1), or electrical engineering/applied physics/related field (PhD 2), with strong experimental results. Helpful experience includes RF/microwave engineering, PCB design, vector network analysis, oscilloscope measurements, precision measurements, uncertainty analysis, thermal modelling, or calorimetry. Strong English communication and willingness to travel are expected.

What's required

MSc degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field for PhD 1, or in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a closely related field for PhD 2, with strong experimental academic results. For PhD 1, a solid foundation in analogue electronics, RF or microwave engineering, wideband sensors, or high-frequency measurement techniques is expected, plus hands-on interest in designing, building and debugging wideband current sensors; experience with electromagnetic or circuit simulation, PCB design, vector network analysis or oscilloscope measurements is an advantage. For PhD 2, a solid foundation in electrical measurement, power electronics, instrumentation or experimental physics is expected, plus interest in electrical and thermal measurement techniques; experience with precision measurements, uncertainty analysis, data acquisition, power converter testing, thermal modelling or calorimetry is an advantage. For both candidates, strong English communication, careful systematic working style, ability to analyse measurement limitations and uncertainty, and willingness to travel are required.
