About this position

SALUTDATA LAB – Health and Data Laboratory at the Institut d'Investigació Biomèdica Sant Pau is recruiting a Junior Postdoctoral Researcher for the PRISMA-CAT project, a research initiative funded by Fundació La Marató de TV3 and dedicated to studying the impact of environmental exposures on respiratory health.

The position is embedded in a multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of epidemiology, data science, and implementation science. The project focuses on the short-term effects of air pollutants and other environmental factors on the incidence and severity of respiratory diseases, with particular attention to adaptation factors. The selected researcher will work with large datasets and apply advanced epidemiological and statistical methods, including time-series analysis and Distributed Lag Non-Linear Models (DLNM).

Core duties include designing epidemiological studies on environmental exposures, managing and analysing big data, and investigating the effects of acute environmental stressors on respiratory outcomes. The role is well suited to a researcher with strong quantitative skills and an interest in public health-relevant evidence generation.

Applicants must hold a PhD obtained within the last five years. They must have oral and written knowledge of both official languages of Catalonia, or commit to achieving this within one year, as well as an advanced level of English and advanced office software skills. Experience in respiratory diseases, short-term environmental exposures, R or Python, and high-performance computing will strengthen an application.

The appointment is a permanent contract linked to the project, with salary according to the applicable collective agreement and an annual working time of 1,627.50 hours (37.5 hours per week). The call is based in Barcelona, Spain, at the Institut de Recerca de l’Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. Applications must be submitted by email to [email protected] with reference 2026/111 by 10 August 2026 at 15:00 (Europe/Madrid).
