The IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca invites applications for 6 fully funded PhD positions in the Mind, Brain, and Human Thought (MBHT) program. This interdisciplinary doctoral program integrates neuroscience, psychology, philosophy of science, and history of philosophy, offering two distinct curricula: Human Thought (Philosophy, History and Science) and Neuroscience (Experimental Psychology and Psychophysiology). The program aims to prepare students to address complex scientific and social challenges, including mental health and technological ethics.

Successful candidates will benefit from a 36-month scholarship, free room and board on campus, access to campus facilities, additional research and international mobility funds, insurance, and social security coverage. There are no tuition fees, and the official language of the program is English. The PhD program starts on November 1, 2026, and is based in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy.

During the first year, students will attend and pass postgraduate courses. In the second and third years, they will conduct their own research projects, potentially abroad, under the guidance of faculty advisors. Participation in seminars, conferences, workshops, and public outreach activities is expected, fostering a vibrant academic community.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Philosophy, Medicine, Bioengineering, Computer Sciences, Linguistics and Humanities, Biology, Economy, or related fields, to be obtained by October 31st, 2026.
