As a PhD candidate, you will work in both Bruges and Brussels, frequently commuting between the two locations. The position requires active collaboration with international partners and engagement in multidisciplinary teams. You will be expected to present research findings at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, organize workshops, and participate in teaching assignments. The role also involves reporting progress to supervisors and assisting with experimental tests and measurements, both within Belgium and abroad.
Eligibility criteria include holding a master’s degree in Engineering Sciences or Engineering Technology, preferably with a background in Aeronautics or Fluid Mechanics. Candidates must be proficient in English and possess the nationality of a NATO member state. Skills in CFD, aerodynamics, and aircraft design are essential, with prior experience in Ansys Fluent, Python, or MATLAB considered advantageous. Experience in academic publishing or as a research assistant/engineer is preferred. Flexibility, autonomy, and strong communication skills are important, as is the willingness to work within a Defence context.
The offer includes a competitive remuneration package for the initial 1-year contract, with partial remote work possible.
