The Persian Studies Program at Georgetown University is inviting applications for a three-year, full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning in August 2026.

This teaching-focused role is centered on Persian language pedagogy, with responsibilities that include teaching, testing, and advising undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will also contribute to the Persian Studies Program through service, collaboration, and team-teaching, and is encouraged to participate in professional organizations such as the American Association of Teachers of Persian (AATP), the Association for the Study of Persianate Societies (ASPS), and the Association for Iranian Studies (AIS).

The post highlights expertise in second language acquisition and Persian for professional purposes, especially in areas such as visual arts, diplomacy, and the Persianate world. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Persian Language and Culture, Persian Linguistics, or a related field, along with a strong promise of excellence in teaching and native or near-native fluency in Persian.
