About this position

The University of Warwick School of Life Sciences is recruiting for 7 academic positions across life sciences, including 6 Assistant Professor roles in biomedical microbiology and infectious disease, biomedical cellular disease or immunity pathways, environmental biology or environmental microbiology, and plant/crop science, plus 1 Assistant or Associate Professor role in Quantitative, Systems and Engineering Biology (QSEB).

This is a strong opportunity for researchers working at the interface of biology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, and engineering. The QSEB post especially welcomes candidates using experimental and data-driven approaches such as single-cell technologies, microfluidics, analytical chemistry, mathematical modelling, computational biology, and AI. The school highlights interests in Physics of Life, Engineering Biology, Bioelectricity, Cellular Metabolism, and Biomanufacturing, as well as research with industrial collaboration and societal impact.

The appointment is a permanent full-time academic post with salary ranges of £47,389–£56,535 for Assistant Professor and £58,225–£67,468 for Associate Professor. Warwick also notes an agreed start-up package for research, plus relocation and immigration support that may help with visa-related costs and the health surcharge fee.

Applicants are expected to have a PhD, an original and interdisciplinary research programme, and a clear commitment to teaching and training. The cover letter should explain how you meet the essential and desirable criteria, your future research objectives, how you will attract funding, what makes your research distinctive, and how you will build collaborations across departments. Teaching contributions are expected in areas such as Engineering Biology and Computational Biology.

Deadline: 31 May 2026 at 11:55 pm UK time. Apply via the University of Warwick Careers Portal and submit a CV and cover letter. Informal queries for the QSEB role can be directed to Professor Miriam Gifford or Professor Gary Bending.
