About this position

BEYOND is an international postdoctoral programme on Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) coordinated by Fondazione Telethon ETS, a leading non-profit organization in translational research. The programme is designed to train a new generation of intersectoral researchers who can accelerate the development of innovative therapies across the entire translational pathway, from fundamental research and clinical translation to regulatory approval, industrial manufacturing, and patient access.

The call offers three-year postdoctoral fellowships with full-time employment contracts and full social security coverage in the host country. Fellows receive a monthly gross salary that includes a living allowance, a €500 mobility allowance, and, where applicable, an additional family allowance. The positions are embedded in a strong European network of host institutions, including the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy in Milan, the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine in Pozzuoli/Naples, the Lund Stem Cell Center in Sweden, the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute in the United Kingdom, and the National Institute of Chemistry in Slovenia.

The programme is particularly suited to researchers interested in biotechnology, genetics, cell biology, biomedical engineering, immunology, molecular medicine, molecular biology, bioinformatics, bioengineering, and clinical sciences. BEYOND combines cutting-edge research with immersive exposure to stakeholders across academia, biotech, pharmaceutical development, regulatory affairs, and healthcare. The aim is to prepare fellows for impactful careers both inside and outside academia while strengthening a European framework for ATMP education and translational training.

Eligibility is competitive. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree by the call deadline, or have successfully defended the PhD pending formal award. A medical degree may be accepted when equivalent to a doctoral degree. Candidates must normally have no more than four years of full-time equivalent postdoctoral experience and must demonstrate relevant research experience and at least one experimental first- or co-first-author paper in a peer-reviewed journal; preprints are also considered. English proficiency is required, and MSCA-style mobility rules apply, meaning applicants must not have spent more than 12 months in the host country during the 36 months before the deadline.

Applications are submitted via the official BEYOND website using the secure online platform. The selection process includes eligibility screening, on-paper evaluation, online interview, and final ranking. The deadline for the current call is 2026-08-20 at 17:00 Europe/Rome. About half of the 35 total fellowships are available in 2026, with additional positions expected in May 2027.
