About this position

Doctoral position in atmospheric chemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany.

The position is suitable for candidates with a master’s degree in physics, physical chemistry, atmospheric science, or a related field. A strong physics background is important, and experience with lasers, optics, spectroscopy, data analysis, or Python is helpful. Good English is required; German is not required.

Funding is provided for three years with salary according to TVöD Bund E13 (65%) plus public sector benefits.

What's required

A master's degree or equivalent in physics, physical chemistry, atmospheric science, or a related field completed by the start date; a strong background in physics; interest in atmospheric chemistry and laboratory and field work; experience with lasers, optics, spectroscopy, data analysis, or programming such as Python is helpful; willingness to travel for campaigns at CERN and abroad; good written and spoken English. German is not required.
