About this position
Doctoral Researcher in the Cluster of Excellence NaviSense at the University of Oldenburg (Institute of Biology and Environmental Sciences, School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences).
This is a PhD opening in the interdisciplinary NaviSense cluster, focused on the sensory basis, mechanisms, and impacts of animal navigation. The research environment spans biology, physics, chemistry, computer science, social sciences, and related areas. The cluster aims to understand how animals navigate, how sensory and quantum-related mechanisms work, and how these insights can inform technology, GPS-independent navigation, ecology, conservation, and biodiversity.
Location: Oldenburg (Lower Saxony), Germany, with possible work at a cooperation institute. Up to three positions are available.
Funding/employment: E13 TV-L, 65% working hours, for 3 years. This is a salaried doctoral researcher position, not a scholarship. Application and interview expenses are not reimbursed.

Applicants should have a strong interest in at least one NaviSense research area, motivation for independent scientific work and learning new techniques, and fluency in English (spoken and written).
