About this position

The University of Oulu, a leading multidisciplinary and international research university in Finland, invites applications for a Doctoral Researcher position in the Faculty of Medicine, Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology (HST). This opportunity is part of the Northern Finland Digital Wellbeing Services (NorthDIGI) project, funded by the Research Council of Finland. As a Doctoral Researcher, you will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team focused on designing, implementing, and evaluating new digital services in healthcare and social welfare. Eligibility requirements include a Master’s degree in a relevant field (such as health sciences, health informatics, or economics), fluent Finnish and English language skills, and the ability to work in Oulu during data collection. Preferred qualifications are a background in healthcare or clinical work, experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, and scientific writing. Applicants must also meet the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS) criteria.

The position is full-time and fixed-term for three years, starting on 15 January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The starting gross salary ranges from approximately 2600 to 2900 € per month (before taxes), determined by the Finnish university salary chart (levels 2-4) and a personal performance component (up to 50%). A six-month trial period applies. Additional staff benefits and wellness programs are available to support your wellbeing.
