About this position
The University of Freiburg is inviting applications for a Doctoral Researcher in Industrial Organization and Competition Economics at the Chair of Economic Policy, especially Competition Economics, within the Institute of Economics.
This is a PhD opening in economics focused on industrial organization, competition economics, and related areas such as antitrust economics, market structure and firm behaviour, digital markets and platform economics, innovation and market dynamics, regulation and public policy, consumer behaviour, empirical industrial organization, and applied microeconomics. The position is intended for candidates pursuing a doctoral degree in a research-oriented academic environment.
The successful candidate will conduct independent research leading to a doctoral dissertation, collaborate on ongoing projects, present findings at seminars and conferences, support teaching activities, and contribute to the academic life of the institute. Research approaches in theory, empirics, experiments, and numerical simulations are welcome.
Supervision: Prof. Germain Gaudin.
Eligibility highlights: an excellent M.Sc. degree in economics or a related field (or near completion), strong quantitative and analytical skills, solid microeconomics and econometrics training, excellent English, and desirable German and statistical software experience (Stata, R, Python, Julia).
Funding: the contract is funded for up to three years at 65% of TV-L E13, with limited teaching duties and access to University of Freiburg doctoral courses.
